Do you know, or have you been a part of, left-wing ideas and speech being censored at an American university? Have you been prevented from starting a GLBT/GSA student group, a chapter of NORML, or other social justice group? Have your professors declared certain liberal ideas "out of bounds" in your classes?
We want to hear from you! Contact us and your story may appear on this site!

welcome to maloneysbaloney.org

On 2004.09.11, during the conservative American Film Renaissance Festival in Texas, the short documentary Brainwashing 101 was first shown. Produced by Evan Coyne Maloney, Stuart E. Browning and Blaine Greenberg of On The Fence Films LLC, Brainwashing 101 purports to document how American colleges systematically force liberal ideologies on their students, censor expressions of conservative values, and promote a worldview that is in opposition to so-called "American values."

However, as with previous attacks by conservatives on academia, the true motives of the attackers are easy to deduce. Conservatives highlight attacks on right-wing speech and ideas on college campuses (often distorting or exaggerating the incidents), and fail to note that left-wing speech and ideas are also censored by some campuses. Academic curricula from decades past are advocated, curricula which consist almost entirely of the work of dead white European Christian males. Most ignominiously, however, conservatives decry an alleged "lack of intellectual diversity" on campuses, while openly advocating for the removal of opinions and programmes that run contrary to their very narrow line of thinking, in a naked attempt to convert colleges into institutions of conservative indoctrination.

maloneysbaloney.org was launched in the wake of Brainwashing 101's release. In addition to providing a running rebuttal to the claims made in Brainwashing 101, as well as the full-length documentary Brainwashing 101's producers plan to release in 2005, maloneysbaloney.org will also respond to conservative claims about "far-left academia" in other venues, from Website articles to books to television appearances. We will also document examples of left-wing speech and ideas being censored on campuses across this country to prove that conservatives are far from being the only people being discriminated against at American universities.
